It’s a situation that still happens too often when a group of responsible adults entrusts a charter bus for their safe transportation and it results in disaster due to driver irresponsibility and outright negligence.

On April 5th, 2018 at approximately 8:45 a.m., a limousine bus carrying 18 passengers to the Masters Golf Tournament flipped onto the median when the driver drifted off the side of the road and overcorrected on I-20 just outside of Augusta, Georgia. We offer our sincerest apologies to those who have been injured in what is being referred to as the “Masters Bus Accident,” several catastrophically, and we are thankful there has been no loss of life.

For many, the road to recovery after the bus accident will likely be longer than expected. In addition to physical recovery and rehabilitation, victims with head injuries, concussions and other brain injuries will need specialized treatment and necessary time to rest.

Atlanta has many of the best doctors and medical facilities in the world, though emotional healing and recovery can take years for some individuals.

While this appears to be a clear case of negligence, reviewing the bus company’s management, maintenance history and whether they knew driver Steven Hoppenbrouwer had other incidents of driving under the influence is critical.

Common questions we receive after a bus accident can include:

  • Who should pay for medical and rehabilitation bills once they arrive?
  • Is there an insurance company to send information to?
  • Will a bus accident lawsuit be filed?
  • How long will the case take to resolve?
  • Do victims of the crash or their families have to pay to file a claim for the accident?
  • How much experience do your lawyers have with bus accidents?
