Whether it is through our continuing legal education for attorneys or student scholarships, we are privileged to partner with the leaders of tomorrow.
Over the last 12 years, the law firm of Fried Goldberg has given thousands in scholarships to local high school students through our Annual Scales of Justice Scholarship contest.
Celebrating 12 Years of Giving Back
High School Scholarship 2021
This year, we are asking scholarship applicants to create a video in response to the following question:
If you could tell people in the future about the year 2020, what would you say was the most important lesson you learned about government and the importance of the law from your personal experiences as they relate to what was going on in our country?
Awards: First place — $2,500; Second place — $1,000; Third place — $1,000
Open to: High school seniors and senior level home school students who are residents of Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Cobb and Clayton counties
Submissions accepted beginning on: February 8th, 2021
Entry deadline: March 19th, 2021
Notification of Winner: April 5th, 2021

How to Apply:
- Create and upload your video submission to YouTube. The video must be visible with link sharing, so check your privacy settings to make sure it is.
- Complete the application form below and include the YouTube link for your video. All submissions must be received by March 19th for consideration.
Requirements:
- Must be a senior level high school student residing in Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Cobb or Clayton county
- Must be in good academic standing
- Submissions must be three minutes or less in length
- Submissions must be uploaded to YouTube
- Applicants must state their full name at the start of their video
- No props, video enhancements or editing video submissions
- Applicants agree to give Fried Goldberg LLC the right to publish or use the submitted video for promotional purposes

Frequently Asked Questions
How are winners chosen?
We will begin reviewing submissions after the application deadline on March 19, 2021. The top three submissions will be selected based on the following factors:
- Originality and creativity of your response
- Incorporation of a personal insight and experience in the video
- Demonstration of persuasive techniques in your answer
- Video is no longer than three minutes
When will I be notified if I win?
Fried Goldberg LLC will contact the winners individually before announcing the results via Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter on April 5, 2021.
What can the scholarship funds be used for?
Scholarship funds can be used for a variety of school related expenses, including textbooks, laptops, tuition, and other costs.
Can I still apply if I don’t meet the criteria?
Unfortunately, only students and video submissions that meet the requirements listed above qualify to apply for the Scales of Justice Scholarship.
Do recipients need to pay the scholarship back?
No. The Scales of Justice Scholarship is not a loan and does not need to be paid back.
Can international students apply?
At this time, the Scales of Justice Scholarship is only open to high school students residing in Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Cobb or Clayton counties.
